Aims

• 1. To promote improved spelling across the BeDifferent Federation.
• 2. To inject elements of competitive fun and a sense of achievement to this curriculum area.
• 3. To show progression across the schools and individual children year-on-year (or term-on-term).
• 4. To embed the 'Rule Breakers' and statutory spellings of each year group so that each child has the maximum knowledge to achieve the best they can by the end of Year 2.

BeDifferent Federated Spelling Challenge - Autumn Term 2022

Monday 31st October: All children will be expected to learn and practise all spellings on the list and will need to practise their spellings at home and at school. The aim in this first round of spellings is for every child to be able to spell all of the words that they were asked to learn.

Children were given the following spellings to learn:

• Year 1 - Rule Breakers (phase 2-5)
• Year 2 - Year 2 statutory spellings

w/c Monday 5th December:

Testing will take place in class in each school during the week commencing Monday 5th December. All children who achieve 100% in the spellings set, will be rewarded with a Spellathon certificate. The top spellers in each class will then make it through to the next round of the Spellathon in the spring term.
