Welcome to Potter class and Year 2. This year is going to be filled with lots of exciting learning and fun experiences. We will be getting creative with our learning, developing our writing skills and our artistic talents to follow in the footsteps of our class inspirational storyteller, Beatrix Potter.

Beatrix Potter was a famous story teller and illustrator who wrote 28 books and illustrated them herself with beautiful watercolour pictures. One of her most famous stories is 'Peter Rabbit', which is still loved by children and adults today. Beatrix was an animal lover and throughout her life was very dedicated and hardworking to achieve her dreams. As children of Potter class, we will also follow in Beatrix Potter's footsteps and show how dedicated and hardworking we can be. We will also show responsibility and love for animals by looking after our class fish, making sure they are fed every day and helping Miss Dunn by keeping them clean.

Potter class will be full of energy and lovely smiles. We will be kind and caring towards each other making sure that we are working as a team. We will always try our best and have a go at things that we might find tricky but we will show how resilient we can be by never giving up. Keeping our brains active is key and through movement breaks, daily miles and PE we will keep our brains and bodies active, which will help us with not only our fitness levels but our learning. As Beatrix Potter said 'We cannot stay home all our lives, we must present ourselves to the world and we must look upon it as an adventure', and this is how I would like the children in Potter class to feel about school. I would like them to see it as a fun adventure by developing their knowledge and enjoying their time at school.

We have a very exciting year ahead exploring the depths of the jungle with some well-known characters, being street detectives and holding on to our heads while we learn about the Tudors and Henry VIII.

I am very much looking forward to welcoming you to Potter class for a fun packed year of fantastic learning.
