Teacher's Comments

Welcome to Optimistic Oval, named after the tube station that lies in close proximity to the famous Oval Cricket ground.

We work well together and know that 'team work makes the dream work.' We look after ourselves, each other and our learning environment. We are passionate about our planet and will be looking into ways to recycle, reduce and reuse objects and materials. From plastic, water and air pollution to being active litter pickers and keen gardeners, we are promising to do our best to be better humans.

We are always keen to be helpful and kind to each other and we remember to have a 'can do', 'give it a go' and 'don't give up' mindset. We are involved in a lot of many exciting and thought provoking activities that keeps us busy and occupied. We constantly reflect and talk about our own and each other's learning in order to celebrate what we have done well and how we can be even better.

Our class author is the wonderful Charlie Mackesy who has written the optimistic and positive story 'The Boy the Mole the Fox and the Horse'. The story reflects the children in Oval because just like the characters, we also are thoughtful, curious, imaginative, creative, positive, optimistic and confident to build relationships and be who we want to be!

We love to learn through our school's fun and intuitive curriculum. Essentially, our creative themes and topics are enjoyable, exciting and engaging with everyone encouraged to explore, investigate and question the world around them. A little sneak peek to our topics this year: 'I Love London', Moon Zoom', It's Purrfect', 'Enchanted Worlds', 'Rio de Vida' and 'BeDifferent Future'.

We will keep you informed of our learning, themes and events throughout the year and would like you to work in partnership with us. We are very optimistic that children in Oval class will have a wonderful and happy learning experience in Year One.

Looking forward to seeing you all in September after what has been proven to be quite a challenging year. I am certain that we all will be very excited to come back to school, eager to learn more and able to share our feelings, emotions and experiences.
