Hello and a big warm welcome to Keen Knightsbridge class. All our classes at Singlegate Primary are named after London tube stations. Knightsbridge Class is no exception. Knightsbridge is known for its shopping and location south of the famous Hyde Park. An intriguing tale suggests that Knightsbridge was named after a quarrel between two knights who, after their great altercation plummeted into the river Westbourne! We certainly will not be encouraging any altercations in class and are more keen to encourage a curiosity about the world around them.
In Knightsbridge Class we are keen to encourage the development of spoken language through learning to read and write and through the experiences and activities we will provide in Year 1. Our aim is that learning is engaging. Embedded through cross-curricular activities in Mathematics, English, Art, themed days, foundation subjects and fun quizzes. Dancing and singing will also be keenly encouraged, particularly when we have our own Rio Festival.
In Knightsbridge Class we are keen to encourage kindness and empathy for others. We aim to help build positive relationships and shape our 'Knights' to be emotionally intelligent. We aim to be independent and resilient learners who are keen to take risks in our learning. We have high expectations of ourselves and meet challenges enthusiastically, celebrating the effort that results in successes - no matter how small.
If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.
As part of this keen curiosity to learn, we will not only explore London virtually through our stories, but will also have an opportunity to visit one of our historic landmarks of our unique city too as one of our many trips for the year! We will also be zooming to the moon, taking a trip to Rio and much, much more.
