Teacher's Comments

Welcome to Knowledgeable Kingsley Class! We are an enthusiastic and hard-working group of children who take great pride in our learning. Our class is named after the famous female explorer Mary Kingsley whose journey's to Africa helped shape a realistic understanding of life in Africa for Europeans. Her travels are also the inspiration for the sensory garden in the Foundation Stage Unit. We are looking forward to lots of exploring, learning, and acquiring new skills with Mrs Ford, Mrs Tallant throughout the year.

Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'!

Just like Mary Kingsley we like new experiences and we are not afraid to ask lots of questions. We like to share our experiences and celebrate everyone's achievements. Our first topic will be 'Bright Lights, Big City' where we will be learning about all the different landmarks around London. To support this topic, we will be exploring the stories of 'The Queen's Hat' and 'Katie in London'. These are lovely stories that will enable the children to use their imagination to explore their own adventures around London.

Following this we will explore other topics throughout the year, including Moon Zoom and Rio de Vida. To support these topics, we will read a variety of texts to allow the children's imagination to flourish.

We are a caring and respectful class who love to learn! We believe that learning should be fun, and we should enjoy taking risks in our learning along the way. We have high expectations of ourselves and always try our hardest to do as well as we can. As a class, we will always encourage, support and motivate each other through our learning. We are looking forward to our new experiences in Year 1.

We will support and encourage the children to settle into their new classroom and allow them to adapt to their new routine by giving them the time that they require. The children's wellbeing is a priority and we will endeavour to fill learning gaps along the way that have developed due to the children's absence from school. We are very much looking forward to supporting the children on their learning journey in Year 1.

We look forward to welcoming you into our happy and hardworking class!
