Welcome to Energetic Embankment.

Our classroom is a place of energy, creativity, curiosity and ambition, where everyone is encouraged to be themselves, challenge themselves and support one another. Our class takes its name from the Embankment, the famous road and riverside walk along the north bank of the River Thames. Surrounded by London's history and landmarks, including Cleopatra's Needle, the Embankment is known for its movement, energy and hustle and bustle - qualities we hope to bring into our classroom every day.

Year 6 is an important and exciting year and we are ready to make the most of every opportunity it brings. We will aim high, work hard and develop the independence and resilience we need for the next stage of our journey. We know that making mistakes, asking questions and challenging ourselves are all important parts of becoming successful learners.

Every member of Energetic Embankment brings their own talents, strengths, experiences and ideas. By listening thoughtfully, collaborating carefully and respecting different viewpoints, we will learn from one another. We will develop the confidence to question, debate, justify and challenge ideas, helping us to become thoughtful and critical learners.

This year, our curriculum will take us on a journey through some fascinating periods, places and ideas. In 'Guilty or Not Guilty?', we will investigate how crime and punishment has changed throughout history and consider whether justice has always been fair. In 'I'm a Survivor', we will explore what it takes to survive and how people have adapted, traded and overcome challenges. 'Let's Liberate' will encourage us to consider the meaning of freedom, equality and change, before 'Blasted Blitz' takes us into the experiences and impact of the Second World War.

Throughout the year, we will be encouraged to think deeply, make connections, ask powerful questions and take pride in the quality of our work. We will celebrate our successes, learn from challenges and recognise that progress comes from determination, effort and a willingness to keep improving.

As we begin our final year at Singlegate, we want to make it one to remember. We will embrace the responsibilities and opportunities that come with being the oldest pupils in our school, setting a positive example for others and contributing to our school community.

Most importantly, we will work hard, laugh often, support one another and make memories that will last long after Year 6 has ended.
