Our Commemorative Day for Evie-Jane

Friday 7th February 2020

Evie-Jane, who attended our Nursery at Lonesome Primary School, very sadly passed away in January 2020 from a rare form of kidney cancer. She was just three years old.

The grand total of £800.00 has been raised in support of the wonderful work of the Royal Marsden.

On Friday 7th February we planned and held a very special commemorative day to share with her family just how loved and how much she will be remembered in our community. All children and staff came to school wearing something pink and with donations of pink cakes to sell as part of our fundraising efforts for The Royal Marsden Hospital.

At 11.15 am we gathered in the playground to launch hundreds of pink balloons into the sky in remembrance, alongside Evie-Jane’s family who joined us for the occasion.

We are so incredibly proud of our children and the resilience and maturity they have shown in the past few weeks, as we have prepared for and planned this special day. Thank you to everyone who donated a pink cake, sported a pink accessory and took part in our remembrance balloon launch. A huge thank you to Evie-Jane’s family too for being a part of our community and joining us on this day.

We will still be selling cakes on Monday 10th February 2020 and once they are all gone, we will update you all with the amount we managed to fundraise in support of The Royal Marsden Hospital.
