Angel - An active, awesome, artistic and amazing class.

Angel class is named after the underground station Angel in the London Borough of Islington. It was opened in 1901. This reminds us of journeys and travels and prompts us to reflect on the learning journey that our class will be on this year.

In Angel class we aim to develop happy, caring, confident children who are keen to learn. We encourage children to be active learners with a strong sense of curiosity. We engage fully in our learning and love to explore and investigate the world around us. We make full use of our learning environment both inside and out. We want all children to develop the skills and attitudes that enable them to be the best that they can be.

As part of the Foundation Stage we focus on seven curriculum areas and aim to develop the characteristics of an effective learner through independent and focused activities within a play based curriculum.

Children learn as they play. Most importantly in play children learn how to learn.

O. Fred Donaldson

Our class author will be Julia Donaldson. She has written many popular books for children, one of her well-known books is The Gruffalo. She was chosen to be the 2011-2013 Children's Laureate and as part of this role she spent time encouraging children to act and read aloud. She has written over 200 books. We hope her stories and others will ignite a passion for reading in Angel class.
